Stream of Facts

Vinegar has many uses in laundry, including the direct application to remove tough, worked-in stains. Adding 1/2 to one cup of vinegar to a laundry load can help limit STATIC and lint cling to your clothes.

STATIC friction, a force much greater than that of kinetic (or sliding) friction in the tire of an automobile, is the force that designers based the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) off of in order to prevent skidding during undesirable roads conditions. The idea that you should pump your brakes during skidding is a misconception in modern times, as the majority of new cars come equipped with ABS. This system took the PLACE of the practice, rendering it futile.

On July 4, 2008, the Independence Mall in Philadelphia was the PLACE of display for a one ton carving of cheese. Commissioned by Cheez-It Snacks and carved by veteran cheese carver Troy Lanwehr, the display depicted John Trumbull’s painting, Declaration of Independence. “The Big Cheese,” as Cheez-It calls it, toured the nation proclaiming the snack’s bIg cheese taste.

BIG, a 1988 film starring actor Tom Hanks, is about a boy who wishes himself old through a fortune telling and wishgranting machine. The film was one of five “body swap” movies released within that three-year period. The other four include 18 Again! (1988), Like Father Like Son (1987), Dream a Little DREAM (1989), and Vice Versa (1988).

Tobacco withdrawal translates over to the DREAM world for a lot of quitters in the midst of abstinence. In a study of 293 smokers trying to quit, about one third of the subjects reported having dreams about smoking. Studies have found that abstinence not only influences content, but many times the vividness of the dream EXPERIENCE.

Steven Spielberg pulled out of his EXPERIENCE of being the Artistic Advisor to the opening ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympics in an effort of protest against the Chinese government’s investment in Sudanese oil. Spielberg believed that China was not making a strong enough effort towards ending the violent conflict between Sudanese military and rebel forces in Darfur.

Play and Freeze Ice Cream Makers. This is an ice cream revolution (or so the website says) that combines playtime with the art of making homemade ice cream. The device itself is a plastic container in the shape of a ball. On the two poles of the ball are screw-on lids where the contents are added: One side is for the ice and salt that act as cooling agents, while the other side is where cream, vanilla, and sugar are added, along with any flavoring you may choose to include. The ingredients are placed into a compartment that is surrounded by the cooling agent. Once the ingredients are combined and the lids are sealed, it’s all play from there. You can throw, roll, shake, or do whatever your heart desires to the ball in order to mix up the contents inside (though I wouldn’t recommend playing kickball with these balls — you might end up breaking a toe on their hard surface). After ten minutes of playing with the ball, the ice cream is ready to be served. Check out www.icecreamrevolution.com for more information.
