Keep your New Year's resolutions.
Robert Modzelewski

It is January 2009 and we all have resolution lists as long as our arms. What is really sad is that most of these resolutions never reach completion by the end of the year; some don’t even make it past this month. After careful thinking and serious introspection, I have realized that this happens because we do not have efficient tools that help us manage our time. Here are a few web applications that can help.

Remember the Milk

For those of us who have problems remembering appointments and executing new years resolutions, a reliable application that will alert us and remind us about things we need to do is needed. RTM is a robust “to do” web application that allows you to do all sorts of things, like send yourself text messages, emails, and IMs. You can even use Google maps to tackle your errands according to how close in proximity you are to the places you need to go. This is something that will keep you ahead of the game and will definitely help you remember more than just the milk.

Ubiquity

This is a Mozilla Lab experiment (or extension) that allows you to mash up all sorts of services on the web together, both how you want and when you want. So for those of us who plan to be spend more time with family and friends this year, this nifty tool will allow you to do little tricks like embed maps into your emails when you are setting up lunch with dad or quickly look up plane tickets when you plan to visit grandma, all from your browser without leaving your tab or page.

Google Calendar

This is not brand new, but it cannot be ignored. Google Calendar is one of the best free calendar applications out there. It is very thorough and effective for keeping your life scheduled. It is great because you can pull up your information from any computer anywhere. You can even share it with friends and family. This is a great way to organize the important things in your life.

Google Reader

For those of you who read several blogs and spend several hours of your day jumping from one site to another, Google reader is the application for you this year. It consolidates all of your reading into one place. Like every other Google application, the great thing about this reader is that you can pull it up anywhere and anytime, and you will be fully up-to-date with all the sites that you follow. This will save you a lot of time and keep you efficient.
